Clean Up
Our amazing God has given us this beautiful earth to enjoy. We take pride in this and the appearance of our community! We participate in the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce Quarterly Clean Up.
Blessing
Boxes
The United Way of Laurens County collects basic items for individuals and families in need. The Presbyterian Women of our church collect items throughout the year to contribute to this mission. Each "Blessing Box" includes a Bible and a special message for the recipient.
Backpack
Program
In conjunction with three other local churches we provide fifteen backpacks of food to a Laurens school one Friday each month during the school year. The backpacks are packed with non-perishable, kid-friendly items and are sent home with students (selected by the school guidance counselor) who are deemed to be most in need of meals over the weekend. The food that is packed in the backpacks is provided by church members. Monetary donations to support the program are also accepted.
Sewing
Circle
A needlework group gathers every Tuesday morning from 10 am to 12 pm in Cook Conference Room. Knitting, crocheting, and other needle crafts provide good fellowship and opportunities to learn new skills. This group works on individual projects as well as some that benefit others, such as prayer shawls, baby hats for newborns, and caps for chemo patients. Everyone is welcome to come sit and knit (or whatever)!
Scout Troop 339 & Pack 339
First Presbyterian Church of Laurens sponsors Scout Troop 339 & Pack 339. With a great group of boys, young men, and leaders, we are very blessed to have this opportunity.
Operation
Christmas Child
Each year we participate in Operation Christmas Child! Every gift-filled shoebox is a powerful tool for evangelism and discipleship--transforming the lives of children and their families through the Good News of Jesus Christ. Countless hours, volunteers, gifts, prayer & monetary donations make this all possible. We collect items throughout the year from church members and have a shoebox packing party with the kids during VBS week. Millions of shoeboxes are collected during National Collection Week ( 3rd Week of November.) First Presbyterian Church, Laurens served as a relay center for OCC for Laurens County for over 20 years.
