The Women and Men of First Presbyterian believe in the power of prayer in our daily lives. A prayer chain composed of men and women and divided into daytime or nighttime calls, is available for all who need special care. For more information on becoming a member of our Prayer Chain ministry, call Brenda Hammond, 682-9723.
Each Circle maintains contact with shut-ins
assigned to it and remembers them with visits, cards, etc., during the year.
We sponsor children who live in Sara's Cottage at Thornwell Home for Children in Clinton, SC. Our projects vary as different needs arise with these girls.
Presbyterian Women send a free-will offering
each year to help with
expenses. We also sponsor
a day trip to Columbia Seminary each spring.
We join other area churches and women
worldwide on the first Friday in March to pray for our countries and our
leaders.
A rose is placed in the sanctuary to honor the
birth of a child in our congregation. When
the child is baptized, he/she is presented with a cross-stitched picture with
the date of baptism. The child is also given a candle to be lighted each year
on the anniversary of the baptism.
We maintain contact with the college students
in our congregation in various ways during the school year.
Refreshments are sent each Thursday in
February for the afternoon devotional time at Hanson Circle.
Various projects are completed as needs arise.
